1975: Elton John's remake of The Beatles' "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" becomes his tenth US Top Ten hit and his third number one. The recording included John Lennon on guitar.

1957: Fats Domino records "I'm Walkin'", a song he wrote after his car broke down and a fan shouted "Hey, look at Fats Domino, he's walking!". The record won't be released for over a year, but would go on to reach #4 on the US Pop chart and #1 on the R&B chart in April of 1958.

1971: George Harrison became the first solo Beatle to have a #1 album in the US when "All Things Must Pass" went to the top of the Billboard chart for a seven week stay. It was eventually certified 6x Platinum by the RIAA and was ranked #437 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

1972: Three Dog Night becomes the first Rock band to appear on a Tournament of Roses Parade float. Lawrence Welk was the Grand Marshall of the parade that year.

1974: Former Kris Kristofferson sideman Billy Swan had the best selling record in America with "I Can Help", a song he recorded in just two takes.
