1974: After a long dry spell, Dionne Warwicke returned to the US top ten with "Then Came You", recorded with The Spinners. Due to some superstitious feelings having to do with astrology, the former Ms. Warwick added an "e" to the end of her name for good luck. She would later return to the old spelling, which is actually a mis-spelled version of her real name: Warrick.

1957: Little Richard's "Keep A Knockin', featuring the wailing sax of Grady Gaines, enters the Billboard Top 40 on its way to #8 during a twelve week chart run. It was the seventh time Richard had reached the Pop chart in the last two years.

1979: The Eagles' "Heartache Tonight" is released. It will become their fifth Billboard number one single, but stall at #40 in the UK.

1974: The Beach Boys went to #1 on the US album chart for the second time with "Endless Summer". The LP, which contained altered versions of "Be True to Your School", "Help Me Rhonda" and "Fun, Fun, Fun", would spend 155 weeks on the Billboard Hot 200, selling over 3 million copies.

1969: Creedence Clearwater Revival started a four week run at the top of the US album chart with "Green River", the group's first number one LP. The album contained two of the band's biggest hits, "Bad Moon Rising" and the title track, and in 2003, was ranked number 95 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
