The self-penned tune will rise to #9 during its ten week stay, earning a Gold Record for selling a million copies. Over the years, the song has been covered by Elvis Presley, Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Charlie Rich and Jerry Lee Lewis.
