1972: David Cassidy reached the top of the UK singles chart with a cover version of The Rascals' 1967 hit, "How Can I Be Sure". It would be the first of two UK #1's for Cassidy, but in America it stalled at #25.

1959: Following a bit of a dry spell after their #4 hit "Tears On My Pillow" a year earlier, Little Anthony And The Imperials record "Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop", which will reach #24 in the US early next year.

1963: New York disc jockey Murray The K receives a copy of The Beatles' "She Loves You" and plays it on radio station WINS-AM. It is believed to be the first Beatles' song ever broadcast in the US.

1975: John Denver's two sided hit, "I'm Sorry" / "Calypso" reached the top of the Billboard singles chart. It was his fourth and final US number one record, although he would place six more songs in the Top 40.

1976: Boulder, Colorado's Firefall saw their song "You Are The Woman" enter the Billboard chart on its way to #9. They would place five more songs in the Top 40, including "Just Remember I Love You" (#11 in 1977) and "Strange Way" (#11 in 1978).
