1957: The Everly Brothers record "Bye Bye Love", a teen-age love song that was written by 37 year old Boudleaux Bryant and his 31 year old wife, Felice. Although nearly 30 other artists turned the song down, The Everly's version will rise to #2 in the US and #6 in the UK by next May.

1976: The theme from the ABC-TV program S.W.A.T. became the first television theme song to top the Billboard Hot 100. Before that, the theme from the original Hawaii 5-0 had made it to number 4.

Today in Rock History: February 27th

1980: The Doobie Brothers' "What a Fool Believes" wins a Grammy Award for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, while Billy Joel's "52nd Street" wins both Album of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

1977: The Eagles attain their third Billboard chart topper with "New Kid In Town", the first single released from their "Hotel California" album. In the UK, it reached #20. At next year's Grammy Awards, the song would win for Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices.

1981: At the Grammy Awards, Christopher Cross wins in four categories; Best New Artist, "Sailing" is Song of the Year and Record of the Year and his debut album "Christopher Cross" is tabbed as Album of the Year. Kenny Loggins' "This Is It" is named Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male and Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male went to Billy Joel for "Glass Houses".
