1966: The Rolling Stones tape a performance for The Ed Sullivan Show, which will be shown the following night. The band played "Satisfaction", "As Tears Go By" and "19th Nervous Breakdown".

1967: The Turtles release their biggest hit, "Happy Together", which will reach #1 in the US and #12 in the UK. Co-written by Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon, the song had been rejected by several other performers.

1956: Little Richard records "Long Tall Sally", which will go on be his highest charting record in the US, climbing to number 6 on Billboard's Pop chart and number 1 on the R&B chart by next April. Rolling Stone magazine has listed the tune as #56 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time.
