1966: The Rolling Stones receive their third Gold record for the album "December's Children". It contains, "Get Off My Cloud", "As Tears Go By" and "I'm Free".

1966: David Jones changes his name to David Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones from the Monkees, just in time for the release of his single, "Can't Help Thinking About Me". He would later say that he chose "Bowie" because he likes that "big American bear-killin' knife."

1979: The Young Men's Christian Association files a lawsuit against Village People over their song, "Y.M.C.A." The suit was eventually dropped.

2013 : The Beatles first single, "Love Me Do", entered the pubic domain in Europe, thanks to copyright laws in the European Union that said copyright for recorded music expires after 50 years.
