1964: 22-year-old Chubby Checker marries 21-year-old Catharina Johanna Lodders, who had won the Miss World Pageant in 1962. She is said to be the subject of his 1963, Billboard #12 hit, "Loddy Lo".

1963: Gerry And The Pacemakers were at #1 on the UK singles chart with "How Do You Do It?" The song wouldn't catch on in the US until the Fall of 1964 when it went to #9.

1959: Bobby Darin records "Splish Splash". The record will become a world wide hit, although he was outsold in Britain by a rival version from comedian Charlie Drake.

1974: Terry Jacks was at #1 on the UK singles chart with "Seasons In The Sun", an English-language adaptation of the song "Le Moribond" by Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel. Earlier recordings had been released by The Kingston Trio and The Fortunes.
