1975: Glen Campbell topped the Billboard Pop chart with "Rhinestone Cowboy", selling over 4 million copies in the process. The record gained three Grammy nominations and was the Country Music Association's Song of the Year for 1976. In the UK, it reached #4. Glen had cracked the US Top Ten twice before with "Wichita Lineman" in 1968 and "Galveston" in 1969.

1991: Eagles' drummer Don Henley was a bright spot at the MTV Video Music Awards when he performed his solo hit "The Heart Of The Matter". The rest of the show was mostly Rap and Metal.

1959: Following the stabbing deaths of two teenagers by a 17 year old and other similar incidents of violence in New York City, WCBS radio in the Big Apple bans all versions of "Mack the Knife".

1955: "Moments To Remember" by The Four Lads becomes the first of their twelve Billboard chart entries and will prove to be their biggest hit, reaching #2 and staying on the chart for an amazing 25 weeks. It was a rare accomplishment for a Canadian vocal group in the 1950s.
