The song would reach #1 in the UK and #3 in the US and was later ranked at #39 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time. In 2005, the recording was placed in the National Recording Registry, a list of sound recordings that "are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States."
