1987: Twelve former members of The Doobie Brothers reunited for a charity concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The show raised $350,000 for Vietnam veterans, about two-thousand of whom attended the show for free.

1971: The Rolling Stones achieve the rare feat of having both the Number One LP ("Sticky Fingers") and Number One single ("Brown Sugar") in the US.

1955: Chuck Berry recorded "Maybellene", which would become his first hit record, reaching #5 on the US Pop chart and #1 on the R&B chart. In the heyday of Pat Boone, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and The McGuire Sisters, it was one of the few Rock 'n' Roll songs to get any radio air play that year.

1978: Paul McCartney led his group Wings to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the third time with "With A Little Luck". It reached #5 in his homeland.
