1975: "Please Mr. Postman" became a US number one for the second time when The Carpenters took it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The Marvelettes version led the hit parade in January, 1961. Although the Beatles also recorded a popular version of the song, it didn't make the American Top 40.

1982: The Beach Boys' cover of The Dell-Vikings 1957 hit, "Come Go With Me", peaks at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100. They would have to wait four more years until they cracked the Top 40 again with "Getcha Back".

1975: Supertramp kick off a 13 date British tour to promote their third album "Crime Of The Century". The LP will spawn the single "Dreamer", which will reach #13 in the UK and #15 in the US.

1973: A band called Climax had the number 3 song in the US with "Precious And Few". The group's lead singer, Sonny Geraci, was the former vocalist of The Outsiders, who scored a US chart topper in January, 1966 with "Time Won't Let Me".

1984: Yes hits number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with their only Top Ten hit, "Owner Of A Lonely Heart". It reached #28 hit in the UK.
